Today we looked through numerous examples of informational text (news articles, posters, personal stories, statistical evidence) to highlight various techniques used to present information. All text was based on the current issue of missing and murdered Aboriginal women in Canada. Tomorrow we will continue the discussion around this topic. Made some connections between the random items in our goody bags (generously donated by Mrs. Richardson) and various themes and topics in English 12 First Peoples literature. We then started the short story "Totem" by Thomas King in preparation for our next essay highlighting various examples of symbolism so far in the story. Finally finished by polishing up our "Keeper 'N Me" poems in preparation for the recording session tomorrow. We were honoured today to listen to Chad Eneas and Richard Armstrong share their knowledge in the beautiful En'owkin Centre. Students were introduced to the Syilx world view perspective and provided with commentary on current environmental issues that we are facing. We all came away with lots to think about. |
